Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about InBrowserKit: privacy, free use, browsers, ads, offline use, and support.

Why should I use browser-based tools?

Browser tools open on any device with no install and no license for a one-off job. Crop an image, merge a PDF, or format JSON in a tab instead of buying or updating a full desktop suite. When the task fits input → options → download, a focused page is usually faster. Read more in the blog.

What is InBrowserKit?

InBrowserKit is a free browser toolkit for PDFs, images, security, video/audio, and developer utilities. The ultimate privacy-first toolkit. Convert media, manage PDFs, generate developer tools, and more — all locally in your browser.

What kinds of tools are included?

PDF (merge, split, compress, convert), images (resize, crop, convert, watermark), password and security utilities, video and audio helpers, and developer tools (formatters, encoders, generators, checkers) — all listed from the home page.

Do my files get uploaded to a server?

No by default. Processing runs in your browser on your device. Files are not sent to a server for the core operation. If a tool uses a third-party service, that page discloses it before you use it.

Do you store my documents or photos?

Tool inputs are processed in your browser by default. We do not require accounts and do not intentionally collect document contents on our servers. Anonymous usage analytics may record page views, not your file contents. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.

Is InBrowserKit free?

Yes. The tools are free to use with no account and no payment for core features.

How is this site free? Do you show ads?

InBrowserKit is free. The site may display advertising (including Google AdSense) and uses analytics to understand traffic. Ads help cover hosting and development without a paywall. See the Privacy Policy for cookies, analytics, and advertising.

Do you have a paid plan?

No. Core tools are free so features stay available without a subscription. Advertising supports the project where enabled.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Open a tool in a modern browser and start working. There is nothing to install for local tools.

Which browsers work?

Current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop and mobile.

Can I use it on mobile?

Yes. The tools are responsive and work on modern mobile browsers, though very large files may be slower or hit memory limits on some phones.

Can I use these tools offline?

After a page has loaded, local tools can often finish a job without further network use; full offline packaging is not guaranteed for every tool. Saving a page or staying in airplane mode after load is a practical approach for travel; network-dependent features (lookup tools, some AI features) still need a connection.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up or login for the tools.

How do I report a bug or request a tool?

Use the contact page or email hello@inbrowserkit.app. Include the tool name, browser, OS, steps to reproduce, and a screenshot if helpful.

How can I support the site?

Share tools you find useful, send feature suggestions via contact, and allow ads if you want to support the free model directly. Reading and linking the blog also helps.

Who runs this site?

InBrowserKit is an independent project. See About for values, goals, and legal links.
