Image tools are the easiest thing to upload and the worst thing to upload. A single phone photo carries your location, the device you took it on, a timestamp, and often faces. Sending it to a random converter hands all of that to a third party, and the copy may outlive the conversion.
Every image tool below runs locally. Compression uses tuned codecs in the page, conversion re-encodes with canvas and WebAssembly, and the metadata readers parse EXIF directly from the bytes you already have in memory. Your original file is never transmitted.
That also means the tools are fast on a large image, because there is no upload step to wait for. A 20-megapixel photo compresses in about as long as the browser takes to read it.

Image Tools FAQ
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Compression, resizing, conversion and format work all run in your browser against the file in memory. Nothing is transmitted, so there is no upload progress bar because there is no upload.
How much can I compress an image without visible quality loss?
For photos, WebP or AVIF at 75–85% quality usually cuts file size by 60–80% with no visible difference. For screenshots and flat graphics with sharp edges, PNG is the better choice because JPEG artefacts show badly on hard edges.
Should I use JPEG, PNG or WebP?
JPEG suits photographs with lots of detail. PNG suits screenshots, logos and anything with transparency or text. WebP usually beats both on quality per byte and is well supported, so it is a safe default when the recipient accepts it.
What does the EXIF remover actually delete?
Camera make and model, GPS coordinates, timestamps, lens data, software tags and thumbnails. The pixel data is untouched. Keeping EXIF is worth it for your own library; stripping it before posting publicly is worth it for privacy.
Does the background remover work offline?
The first use downloads the model, then it runs locally on your GPU or CPU. After that it works offline. It is the heaviest tool on the site, so expect a short wait the first time and a much faster job afterwards.
