Markdown to PDF

Write Markdown and convert it to a downloadable PDF.

Markdown to PDF renders your Markdown with marked, shows a styled HTML preview, then exports A4 PDF through the browser print dialog. Headings, lists, code fences, tables, and blockquotes get GitHub-like print CSS (15mm margin). Paste or type, toggle preview, Save as PDF — Local Processing, no upload.

Ideal for README exports, release notes, or turning meeting notes into a shareable PDF without a desktop Markdown app.

How it works

The textarea is the source of truth (kept in Redux). marked.parse builds HTML for the preview pane (prose + markdown-preview classes on a white surface).

Save as PDF opens a window with your HTML and a fixed @page A4 / 15mm stylesheet (12pt body, bordered h1, shaded code, blue links, print-color-adjust exact), then window.print() after a short delay. You choose Save as PDF as destination.

How to use

  1. Open Markdown to PDF (steps: Input → Preview → Download).
  2. Type or paste Markdown in Markdown Input (placeholder shows heading/bold/list sample).
  3. Click Show Preview to verify headings, lists, and code blocks.
  4. Hide Preview when ready, or Clear to reset the buffer.
  5. Click Save as PDF and allow the pop-up if prompted.
  6. In the print dialog use destination Save as PDF (page size is A4).
  7. Save the file with a meaningful name.
  8. Start Over / Clear for the next document.

Tips

  • Preview catches broken fences and nested lists before you print.
  • Page size is always A4 (no Letter control in this tool).
  • Images need absolute URLs the print window can fetch — local paths will not embed.
  • Allow pop-ups or you will see the open-print-dialog error toast.

Markdown to PDF FAQ

Which Markdown features work?

Standard GitHub-flavored constructs via marked: headings, emphasis, lists, code, tables, blockquotes, links.

Is the page size fixed to A4?

Yes — print CSS sets @page size A4 with 15mm margin; there is no size selector.

Are files uploaded?

No. Parsing and printing run entirely in your browser.

Can I upload a .md file?

The UI is paste/type into a textarea — open the file and paste contents (file upload is not a separate control).

Why a print dialog?

Export uses the browser Print API; choose Save as PDF as the printer destination.
