CSV / Excel to PDF
Convert CSV or Excel files to formatted PDF tables with a toggle.
CSV / Excel to PDF converts a spreadsheet into a bordered multi-page table PDF. Toggle CSV or Excel mode, drop a file, preview the first 20 rows, pick A4 or Letter, and convert. Headers repeat on every page; pdf-lib draws the grid with Helvetica. Output previews in an iframe and downloads as {basename}.pdf — all on-device.
Only the first worksheet of Excel workbooks is used, so export extra sheets to CSV first if needed. PapaParse handles CSV/TSV; SheetJS reads .xlsx/.xls.
How it works
Mode toggle resets any loaded file when you switch. CSV parses with header:true and skipEmptyLines; Excel uses XLSX.read then sheet_to_json on the first sheet.
Conversion creates a PDFDocument, embeds Helvetica/Helvetica-Bold, lays equal-width columns inside a 40pt margin, fills a gray header row (repeated each page), and draws body rows with borders. Long cell text is truncated to fit the column. A4 is 595.28×841.89pt; Letter is 612×792pt.
How to use
- Open CSV / Excel to PDF and choose mode: CSV or Excel (switching clears state).
- Select page size A4 (default) or Letter.
- Drop your file (CSV: .csv/.tsv/.txt; Excel: .xlsx/.xls) and confirm size + columns × rows on the chip.
- Review the preview table — first 20 rows with “Showing 20 of N rows” footer.
- Click Convert to PDF and watch Converting… through 100%.
- Check the iframe PDF preview and Converted to PDF meta line.
- Click Download PDF (or Start Over for another file).
- For multi-sheet Excel, export the target sheet to CSV first, then use CSV mode.
Tips
- Put column headers in the first row — they become the repeated PDF header band.
- Columns share width equally; many columns squeeze cells — reduce columns before convert.
- Very long values truncate to fit; shorten text or widen fewer columns upstream.
- Switch mode before upload — changing CSV/Excel clears the previous file.

Which files are supported?
CSV/TSV/TXT in CSV mode; .xlsx/.xls in Excel mode (first worksheet only).
Are files uploaded?
No. Parsing (PapaParse/SheetJS) and PDF drawing (pdf-lib) run in your browser.
Can I convert a specific Excel sheet?
Only the first sheet is read — export another sheet as CSV and use CSV mode.
How are tables formatted?
Equal column widths, gray bold header repeated every page, 8pt body Helvetica, 40pt margins.
What page sizes can I use?
A4 or Letter, chosen before conversion.
