Organize PDF

Visually reorder pages in a PDF using drag-and-drop.

Organize PDF lets you rearrange and delete pages on a visual thumbnail grid with drag-and-drop, then export a new document in that order. Grab a page by its grip handle, drop it where it belongs, trash anything you do not need, and save. The page-number badges update to the new order so you can verify the sequence before you commit.

Ideal for reordering scanned chapters, moving an invoice to the front, or stripping blanks while you shuffle. Everything uses pdf-lib and PDF.js in the browser; your original file is only read.

How it works

Upload loads the document and builds a list of page ids (original indexes) rendered as PDF.js thumbnails. Drag-and-drop via dnd-kit rewrites that list; the trash icon removes an entry without touching the source file.

Save creates a fresh PDFDocument, copies each remaining source page once in list order (copyPages), and downloads organized_{filename}. Pages are never duplicated — each original index appears at most once. Zero pages left disables Save.

How to use

  1. Open Organize PDF and drop or click your PDF (“Click or drag and drop your PDF here”).
  2. Wait for thumbnails (header shows N pages).
  3. Hover a card and grab the grip handle (GripVertical) on the page you want to move.
  4. Drag onto another thumbnail and release; index badges renumber to the new order.
  5. Click the trash icon on any page to remove it (aria: Remove page N).
  6. Confirm the header count and visual order look right.
  7. Click Save PDF (disabled when zero pages remain or a save is running).
  8. Download organized_{name}.pdf; use Change File to start over.

Tips

  • Removals and moves are not applied to disk until Save — experiment freely.
  • Page badges show positions in the new sequence, not original page numbers.
  • Cannot duplicate a page; each original index copies once on export.
  • Encrypted PDFs fail load with Failed to load PDF. It might be encrypted.

Organize PDF FAQ

Does this modify my original file?

No. The source is only read; you download a new organized_* file.

Can I duplicate pages?

No. Export copies each original page index at most once in the order you set.

Why is Save PDF disabled?

Either every page was removed (zero remain) or a save is already in progress.

Thumbnails are not showing.

The PDF may be encrypted or damaged — check the preview error box, then try unlocking or another file.

How do I delete a page?

Click the trash icon on that page card. Use Save to write the reduced document.
