PDF Cropper
Crop margins visually from all pages.
PDF Cropper trims margins uniformly across every page with four percentage sliders (Top, Bottom, Left, Right — each 0–50%). A live preview shows a bright crop rectangle over a dimmed mask so you see exactly what will remain. Apply Crop writes the new CropBox on all pages and offers cropped_{original}.pdf for download.
Great for scanner black edges, binding margins, or consistent white space before print. The crop is a document-wide percentage, not per-page freeform selection — simple and predictable. Processing uses pdf-lib in the browser.
How it works
Sliders set crop percentages; the UI prevents opposite sides from summing above 95% so a sliver of content always remains. The preview overlay maps those percentages to a box-shadow mask on the rendered page.
On Apply Crop the tool loads bytes (ignoreEncryption allowed), converts each side’s percent to points in pdf-lib’s bottom-left origin, and setCropBox(x, y, width, height) on every page. Save produces a staged blob URL shown in the result panel — not an auto-download.
How to use
- Open PDF Cropper and click Choose a PDF to crop.
- Watch page 1 render with the dark mask and bright crop rectangle.
- Adjust Top Margin (0–50%) and read the live percentage.
- Set Bottom, Left, and Right margins the same way.
- Ensure opposite sides stay within the 95% combined cap (UI clamps automatically).
- Click Apply Crop; wait for Cropping PDF… / Modifying bounding boxes for all pages….
- On Crop Complete!, click Download Cropped PDF → cropped_{name}.pdf.
- Start Over or Change File to crop another document.
Tips
- Crop applies to all pages — ideal for uniform scan borders, not mixed page sizes.
- The bright rectangle is what survives; everything outside is hidden via CropBox.
- Opposing margins cannot exceed 95% total, so you always keep ≥5% visible.
- Encrypted PDFs load with ignoreEncryption for cropping, but a fully broken file still fails.
PDF Cropper FAQ
Does crop delete content permanently?
It sets the CropBox so content outside is hidden on view/print; the underlying page content remains in the file structure.
Can I crop each page differently?
No — one margin set is applied uniformly to every page.
What is the maximum crop per side?
50% each side, with opposite sides capped at 95% combined.
What filename do I get?
cropped_ plus the original name, e.g. cropped_scan.pdf.
Does it work on locked PDFs?
Loading uses ignoreEncryption: true when applying the crop; severely damaged files can still fail.
